After playing the lead in two films by Amir Naderi, Madjid left Iran in 1987 at the age of 16, first to Norway, and later on to America, eventually settling in California where he worked in educational administration.

In 2016, a short documentary film about Niroumand's life was released (poster below), entitled A Boy's Own Story, directed by Mojtaba Bakhtiari Azad.
