Synopsis
In order to win a smooth white stone from Fia, the piano teacher's daughter, Hampus paints a face on the church clock. Having won the stone, he sets Fia a task to win it back. Thus the stone passes back and forth between them as each sets a task for the other to complete, and through this process the two children forge a bond of friendship. However, the adult world soon intrudes and threatens disaster.

Source material
The TV miniseries was based on the 1964 novel of the same name by Swedish author Gunnel Linde. The novel was first published in English translation (in the US) in 1966, and was published in Britain in 1968.
